At Valor & Virtue Martial Arts Academy LLC, we believe it is essential to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Each year, our dojo participates in the Memorial Day Murph Challenge, the official annual fundraiser of the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. This event is one of the Foundation’s primary means of raising funds to support scholarships, programs, and initiatives that continue Lt. Murphy’s legacy.
By participating as a dojo, we not only contribute to the Foundation’s mission but also provide our students with a profound lesson in gratitude, discipline, and respect. The Murph Challenge—a demanding physical workout—is an opportunity to reflect on sacrifice, resilience, and the values of service, while demonstrating determination and perseverance.
Why It Matters
Honoring Heroes: The challenge keeps the memory of fallen service members alive, inspiring reflection and appreciation for their sacrifice.
Building Character: Students of all ages experience the value of pushing through difficulty, mirroring the dedication and courage of those they honor.
Community Impact: Together, we raise funds that support the Foundation’s scholarships and programs, creating a tangible legacy of service and support.
A Lesson for the Next Generation
Our children are our future, and through participation in the Memorial Day Murph, we help instill the understanding that sacrifice, service, and gratitude are essential parts of life. Stepping onto the mat or floor for this challenge encourages reflection, resilience, and respect, and reminds all participants that freedom is protected through the courage and dedication of others.
Whether you join us for the workout, cheer from the sidelines, or support through donations, your involvement helps honor the fallen, empower the living, and strengthen our community.
