*LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE. TRYOUTS ARE REQUIRED. Class Observations and 1-on-1 Consultations must be completed BEFORE prospective students are eligible for TRYOUTS* We at the Valor & Virtue Martial Arts Academy LLC believe that choosing to start martial arts training with us requires a serious commitment, and thus requires a serious decision-making process. We have a very vigorous enrollment procedure, and we only accept 2 to 3 new students each quarter. Currently, we are requiring all visits be by-appointment only. The enrollment process is as follows:
Step 1: Class observation & 1-on-1 Consultation.
March 10 - March 29 During the last three weeks of each quarter, prospective students must observe at least one class. Learn more HERE. It is recommended that prospective students observe at least two classes. On the same day of the Class Observation(s), prospective students have a 1-on-1 Consultation with Langlais-sensei. This is where we gather information about the prospective student's background, goals, interests, and expectations. This will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes.
Step 2: New Student Meeting
March 30th (Sunday) Before prospective students can participate in TRYOUTS, parents and adults must attend our quartely New Student Meeting; children do not attend this meeting. This is not merely an information session, but an important collaborative discussion on the importance of our academy's training philosophies on the impact of students' health, happiness, and safety. There is only one New Student Meeting scheduled each quarter and attendance is a requirement for eligibility for TRYOUTS.
Step 3: TRYOUTS.
March 31st - April 12th Prospective students must complete two weeks of TRYOUTS. This is where we assess prospective students' physical skills, mental skills, and personality traits in order to determine their potential level of success in achieving the program's Student Learning Outcomes and Objectives.
Step 4: Follow up meeting & Enrollment.
After the two weeks of TRYOUTS are complete, there is a sit down meeting to discuss the "results" and from there we determine whether recommending a trial quarter is the best decision moving forward. Prior to this meeting, Sensei works closely with parents and adult prospective students after each day of TRYOUTS to ensure the process is clear and answer any questions or concerns that may come up.
